“CROSS THE RIVER”: an invitation rather than just a simple title. An exhortation to fearlessly cross the numerous boundaries of everyday life, obstacles and limits imposed by society, and at times by ourselves.
And it is exactly this that N&B have set their sights on doing with this second album: to cross the boundaries of genre and overcome the labels that tend to stick in an almost morbid way.
Happiness is, yes at home, but it is also in the discovery of unknown lands, rhythms and beats from faraway places, a leap on to a Caribbean beach and the melancholy of an exotic sunset. To travel and then return back into the comfortable and familiar arms of country rock and folk ballads that have their roots deeply embedded in an old Irish pub somewhere. Music that takes the mind on a journey across the globe.
The already renowned vocal combinations of Marcello, Matteo and Michele is enhanced by the voice and violin of Elisa, while the rhythmic base is supplied by the ever so dependable “dynamic duo” Backbones (Tommaso and Davide). Furthermore, the album features numerous collaborations with musicians of both national and international fame, such as Hilario Baggini (Del Barrio), Enrico Farnedi (soloist and with the Good Fellas), Claudio Cardelli (Rangzen), etc.
Today more than ever, the sound of N&B results as being complex and complete. “CROSS THE RIVER” is an ambitious album which aims at being a kind of vade mecum of the band’s different musical influences, matured thanks to the endless live performances and thanks to overseas trips, experiences and incurable curiosity.
